Some kind of crafty

I have been knitting…sort of. I have one-half of my Sockapalooza socks done (see below). But I’ve been sidetracked by another crafty hobby of mine – cross-stitch. I used to do this quite a bit, but the patterns got too cutesy for me and I put it aside for a while. I found this small leaflet at A.C. Moore and thought these designs would be perfect for our kitchen.

I’m working on the Patisserie one right now; there are three other designs as well.

And as mentioned above, I have done some knitting. I finally found a pattern for my Sockapalooza socks: Broadripple. It’s pretty simple and easy to follow, and it seems to be knitting up pretty quickly. I hope to cast on for the second sock in the coming days.

I also have plans to cast on for another pair of socks using the yarn below. I got this from my HSKS pal. Since there is only a little bit of red/scarlet compared to the gold yarn, I’m going to do the toes and cuffs in red and the rest in gold.

Tomorrow I will be re-arranging furniture in our living room and putting our current sofa in the garage for storage until someone comes to get it in late August, all in anticipation of my new furniture!! Yeah!!!

I used to do cross stitch a lot as a kid and teen, loved it. But then I could never find anything but cutesy kits and I got tired of it. I did birth announcements for my kids while pregnant and that was the last time I did anything. I told myself I stopped because I am a needle dropper and that’s all I needed was to drop a needle, not find it and have a baby crawl over and find it, eek. But I think I was just tired of it.

But those are cute! (and not in a cutesy way ;) )
